WHAT IS BAREBOATING?
A bareboat is a boat hired without a skipper or crew. You are the captain, with no licence required. A little knowledge and common sense is all you need. The Fraser Coast is home to some of the finest cruising grounds in the world and the sheltered waters on the western side of Fraser Island are calm making it perfect for first timers and seasoned sailors alike.
When you arrive, you will be given a comprehensive area and vessel briefing, covering details on the operation of the vessel, safety procedures, basic navigation, suggested itineraries, local tips and tricks and all you need to know for a safe and happy boating holiday in the beautiful, World Heritage Great Sandy Strait Marine Park.
Our twice daily communication provides you with peace of mind knowing that we are there to help you throughout your charter. Our extensive local knowledge and up to date weather reports will ensure your planning for the safest and calmest overnight anchorages.

Experience Requirements
No formal boating qualifications or licences are required to charter with Sweet Escape Yacht Charters. Some boating knowledge and experience is all it takes. A minimum of two people are required to charter a boat. Holders of recreational boat licences are not automatically qualified to take out a bareboat. Charterers do not drive in or out of berths: Upon departure, our staff will take your boat out of the marina and on return our staff will berth the vessel.
Before you leave you will be briefed on the cruising area, vessel operations and safety, including Marine Park rules, weather, tides, charts, and radio procedures. This takes approximately 3hours and you will be asked to demonstrate your skills.
For those that are first-timers, or want to brush up on your skills to ensure you are confident out on the water, you can hire a training guide for half-a-day, a few days, or the entire trip. Have one of our local, experienced crew show you how to do everything with practical, on the water, hands-on training.
Or, if you are after a shorter charter (<4nights) and want to really just sit back and take it all in, we offer half day, full day and overnight Skippered Charters
