The Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, is well canvased and Islands such as Hamilton Island, Hayman Island, Heron Island, and Brampton Island make it famous. But we want to let you in on a secret- the gem that is the area of the Southern Great Barrier Reef!
Departing from our base at Urangan Boat Harbour (Hervey Bay, Fraser Island Coast, Queensland), we will soon offer extended cruising options to areas of the Southern Great Barrier Reef, known as the Bunker Group, including Lady Musgrave, Lady Elliot, Fitzroy Reef.
How does exploring Lady Musgrave, an uninhabited coral cay with over 1,100 hectares of surrounding reef in a protected lagoon to dive, swim, snorkel, fish and discover sound? Maybe your itinerary will take you to enjoy the fun at Great Keppel Island where white sand, coral reefs and palm trees abound. Being a little more known and more accessible, Great Keppel is a good base to pick up some provisions or change crews. Wanting to enhance your experience? Take a stop into Heron Island to learn about the reef and what is happening about research on the Great Barrier Reef. Or perhaps fishing Swains Reef on your bucket list? This massive reef system off the Queensland Coast is the top location for reef and pelagic fishing.
The Southern Great Barrier Reef is ribboned with white sandy beaches, acres upon acres of coral reef and magnificent marine life. It is a true nature lover’s playground.
