CRUISE TO LADY MUSGRAVE WITH NEW LEOPARD 40’ TOO EAZY’ AND LEOPARD 44’ LAZY DAYZ
K’gari Fraser Island has been the playground for Sweet Escape’s vessels since first launching in 2020 and over these years the pristine waters have provided our charterers with hundreds of unforgettable memories. With stunning scenery, unique wildlife encounters, sheltered waters and great weather, there is no doubt that Fraser Island and Hervey Bay’s aquatic haven, the Great Sandy Straits, is the perfect place to charter our yachts.
Looking for more? When aboard our newest addition to the fleet ‘Too Eazy’ or ‘Lazy Dayz’ you can now set sail to the iconic Southern Great Barrier Reef right here from Hervey Bay, ticking off two Natural Wonders of the World in the one amazing holiday experience!
Lady Musgrave is located on the southern end of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef. Her huge lagoon is a popular anchorage as it offers shelter, great fishing and spectacular snorkelling. There is nothing quite like the underwater world of the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Teeming with aquatic life, coral, fish, turtles, dugongs and harmless reef sharks. When you step ashore, tread carefully along the white coral beaches as green and loggerhead turtles nest on Lady Musgrave’s shore. As you wonder amongst the native Pisonia forest, keep your eyes peeled to see up to 50 different species of birds; oysercatchers, terns, gulls, eagles, and the right time of year, the wedge-tailed shearwater.
Only a day’s steam from Urangan Harbour to Lady Musgrave, our yachts are the perfect platform to explore the island. No need for crowded passenger ferries, controlled groups snorkelling or to book a campsite eleven months in advance to sleep on the beach. It’s just you, your loved ones on your own private luxury yacht. To make the trip a safe one, sailing experience is necessary and is why we put a Sail Guide onboard with you for the extended charter area. If you want to get the most out of the experience, or you really want to put your feet up, there is option of hiring a cook/host for your charter.
So if you want to push the (charter) limits on your next bareboat adventure, jump aboard ‘Too Eazy’ or ‘Lazy Dayz’ and explore the Fraser Coast and beyond to the Great Barrier Reef with on your very own Sweet Escape Yacht Charter. Extended coastal cruising charters require direct contact with management prior to booking as special terms and conditions obviously apply.

In the unlikely event that you need to cancel your booking, your charter fee is non-refundable so it is recommended that you consider holiday or travel insurance. You may want to consider a policy that covers inclement weather, domestic flights, security bond claims and hirer’s liability/negligence.
Sweet Escape Yacht Charters is unable to recommend a particular insurance policy. Please read the PDS of the insurance you select to make sure the coverage is right for your individual needs.
FOOD AND DRINK:
There are no perishables supplied on any bareboat charter. The charterer is responsible for brings all food and drinks, including things like cooking oil and salt and pepper. Drinking water is highly recommended as fresh water is limited and not the best quality (tap water). The Charterer is responsible for provisioning, including the Sail Guide.
HIRE EQUIPMENT:
Should the Charterer wish to hire equipment such as SUPs, kayaks, fishing gear, snorkelling gear, or anything else, it will be at their own expense. Fraser Coast Marine Hire and Anglers Den can arrange most hire gear. Please ask our team for their price lists and we will organise pick up and delivery back to the respective businesses. Payment for hire equipment is made separately to the respective businesses.
LADY MUSGRAVE GUIDED CHARTER FAQS
Our Guided Charters include use of the vessels onboard facilities, including cooking, cutlery and crockery. Also includes bedding, one bath towel per person, toilet paper, paper towel, tea towels, hand wash & cleaning supplies like dishwashing liquid. No food or drink items are provided.
As a condition of the boat owners insurance, we require a security bond to be lodged. This is processed as a pre-authorisation on a credit card. The pre-authorisation freezes the availability on your credit card and no money is withdrawn from your account, however you do need to have this sum available in your account for the pre-authorisation to be possible. If the boat is damaged we will then withdraw the money from your account. The most you are liable for is $2500.
- If no damage, loss of equipment or incident is reported to the operator, then the security bond is released.
- If some damage or loss occurs, the costs for the damage up to the Security Bond is deducted, and the balance refunded or returned.
Please note that the security bond is a condition of your charter and is not a type of travel insurance. You could be subject to more than the bond amount if you are found liable/negligent.
If you are covered by travel insurance, you would be able to make a claim on the travel insurance policy for the majority of the security bond should you damage the boat.
- We require 20% of the charter fee as a deposit to confirm your booking. The balance of the full charter cost, including extended charter area premium and Sail Guide fee, 90 days before departure.
- A fee to 20% of the full charter cost is forfeited if a booking is cancelled. We will endeavour to re-book the vessel, and, if successful, we will refund your cancellation fee less a $250 outlays fee.
- If Sweet Escape Yacht Charters deem the weather unsafe to charter the extended charter area (up to 50nm off the Queensland Coast, including Lady Musgrave) but the local area (the smooth and partially smooth waters on the western side of K’gari Fraser Island) to be safe, then the charterer must still charter in the local area for the duration of the booking.
- Payment can be made by Bank Deposit, Cash or Visa/Mastercard (2.25% credit card fee applies).
All charters are subject to availability & weather conditions. We reserve the right to cancel any trip due to the bad weather (even at short notice). If your charter has been cancelled due to bad weather, you may nominate a full refund or choose an alternative day. In the event of such cancellation, Sweet Escape Charters is not liable for any costs or damages.
Otherwise, the following cancellation policy applies:
- We require 20% of the charter fee as a deposit to confirm your booking.
- The balance of the full charter cost, including extended charter area premium and Sail Guide fee, 90 days before departure.
- A fee to 20% of the full charter cost is forfeited if a booking is cancelled within 90days prior to departure.
Sweet Escape Charters will not be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of clients beyond Sweet Escape Charters’ control. Children must be accompanied by an adult and must BYO correctly fitted children lifejacket.
Our extended cruising zone requires specific skills and knowledge so it is company policy to have a Guide onboard.
An experienced, qualified sailor with a wealth of local knowledge to share with you is very valuable. Whilst you will be in charge of the vessel as the nominated Charterer, the Guide will offer support from showing you the best anchorages, fishing and snorkel spots, to providing tips and tricks on sailing and vessel operations. The information our Sail Guides provide, also help reduce the risk of accidents.
When you go to a new place for the first time, seeking out people that can share their knowledge and experience can provide you a deeper appreciation and understanding of the local area or activity.
**Please note that sail guides are not cooks, cleaners, babysitters or maids and are not responsible for the vessel or your crew.
You will need to bring:
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Camera
- BYO food & drink (must also include the Guide)
- Weather appropriate clothing
- Correctly fitting lifejacket for children (under 13yo)
- Any equipment (fishing rods, SUPs, snorkelling gear)
- Good quality drinking water and Ice

All of our charters depart and return from Urangan Harbour in Hervey Bay.
On occasion, should the weather not be suitable to return to Hervey Bay, our Guided Musgrave Charter vessels may return to Bundaberg Port Marina. In this case, Sweet Escape Yacht Charters will provide transfers back to Hervey Bay.
We open up our extended cruising zone charters during May and June as the weather (wind) is most favourable during these months.
We do not offer these charters all year round, and are limited to only 3x 7night charters per year per vessel.
