A number of Australia’s most iconic fish are caught in these waters including the famous Black Marlin, Longtail Tuna, Sailfish, Cobia, Coral Trout, Spanish Mackel and more.

OFFSHORE

Sweet Escape charters take you offshore in our all-weather 9.75m Kevlacat, “Instinct”. Experience deep sea fishing at its best.

Fish the abundant reefs off Fraser Island and North into the Southern Great Barrier Reef for reef species like Snapper, Coral Trout, Red Emperor, Sweetlip and may other table and game fish. Our full day offshore fishing charter is 6am-4/5pm. With over 15 years experience fishing in these waters we can definitely put you on the fish.

INSHORE

Fraser Island’s Platypus Bay, home of the famous Hervey Bay Flats, offers anglers the opportunity to land prized species such as Hervey Bay’s Golden Trevally, Longtail Tuna and Black Marlin.

South to the Great Sandy Strait covers about 70m of crystalline waters, shallow lying flats and a maze of creeks and rivers. These fish-rich waters provide anglers with a huge diversity of species to target, from flathead, Mangrove Jack, Whiting, Bream, Cod, Barramundi, Threadfin and many more. Crabbing and prawning is also very popular in these southern waters.

If you are wanting to do a spot of fishing, take in the beautiful sights, swim in the fresh water creeks or stop over at popular anchorages, we can custom tailor a charter to suit your needs. 

Southern Great Barrier Reef, including the Bunker Group, charters are also available. Ask us about snorkel the fringing reef at Lady Elliot or spearfishing, diving and snorkelling at Lady Musgrave & Fitzroy Reef.

All charters have all the fishing gear you need supplied. Alcohol is allowed on board if you wish (No glass) however responsible drinking is a must!

Our full day charters aboard our 9.75m Kevlacat “Instinct” are fully catered with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee being provided free of charge. Please just bring your hat, sunnies and camera, and sunscreen with you. You are welcome to bring your own alcohol. Please advise any dietary requirements at time of booking.

All fishing equipment is provided including rods, bait and tackle. Fishing equipment supplied on an “if loss, replace” basis. You can bring your own rod if you wish.

All fish you catch are brain spiked and brined on capture. No fish gutted, gilled or filleted on board as per DAF regulations. Other storage arrangements can be made for those on holidays. Your catch will be iced for the trip home. You can bring your own small esky if you wish.

A 25% deposit is required upon booking. The deposit is fully refundable if trip is cancelled due to weather or can be transferred to another suitable time. See cancellation policy for other cancellation fees.

All charters are subject to numbers & weather conditions. We reserve the right to cancel any trip due to the bad weather (even at short notice). If your charter has been cancelled due to bad weather, you may nominate a full refund or choose an alternative day. In the event of such cancellation, Sweet Escape Charters is not liable for any costs or damages.

Otherwise, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • Cancellations made 10 days prior to departure will receive a full refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 10 days but more than 48 hours prior will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to travel will incur a 100% fee.
  • For PRIVATE CHARTERS, a 21-day cancellation policy applies.

Alcohol is allowed onboard the vessel, however, responsible consumption of alcohol is to be adhered to. GST included in price. Fishing equipment supplied on an “if loss, replace” basis. Sweet Escape Charters will not be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of clients beyond Sweet Escape Charters’ control. Area of charter is on discretion of the Skipper. NO luggage and or bulky bags are permitted on the boat. Children must be accompanied by an adult and must BYO correctly fitted children lifejacket.

Both northern and southern species can be caught in various locations here on the Fraser Coast. You can expect some various Snapper, Mackerel, Tuna, Golden Trevally, Queenfish, Black Marlin, Coral trout, Cod and many more.
Alcoholic beverages are allowed on board at your own expense however responsible consumption of alcohol is expected.

You will need to bring:

We supply:

  • fishing rod
  • tackle
  • bait
  • ice
  • water
  • snacks
We supply morning tea and drinking water for your time out with us. If you are on a full day charter, we also supply lunch. Additional snacks and soft drink can be purchased.

If you are staying at Kingfisher Bay Resort, we can arrange pick up and drop off for a small additional fee. Pick up and Drop off time will vary depending on the group so please contact us to arrange.

We supply rods, reels, bait and everything you need. If you want to bring your favourite rod you are more than welcome to.

Unless you want to target a specific seasonal fish, any time of year is great for fishing here on the Fraser Coast. Hervey Bay and the outer Reefs are famous for producing good sized fish year round.
